BookMarkIt! Vista

A couple of posts in the comments to this blog wanted BookMarkit! to work on Vista so this is for you guys. I am dual booting vista now so I downloaded the Vista MCE SDK and started coding. I only have one Vista machine to test it on, so I am relying on you guys to let me know if this works. I didn't add any new functionality just made it vista compatible.

If you are running MCE 2005 don't install this version :-)

Thanks for the app., but..
Did not work for me. Got an

Update:

I gave admin privileges to the BookmarkIt .txt file in the Windows directory and all's well.
Works perfectly.

Thanks again for the App.

Works great! Thanks for all the hard work.

There is a problem with this nice app, if you click "video library" and then click "more" you get a nullreferenceexception. Instead, you should display a list of the saved bookmarks and let the user choose which file to launch. I can only make it work when you first launch the file and then click more->open bookmark. There should be a list available if you just enter video library.

Great App. Would be nice if the bookmarks could be written to a network place so the bookmark can be used on multiple machines.
Maybe it's also possible to create more then 1 bookmark so my wife won't overwrite my bookmarks.
Works great!

Thank you! I've been using this tool for some time now, it works like a charm. Too bad MS doesn't include such basic features in their products, but lucky us - we have you :-)

You are a bloody Legend! This was my favourite application on MCE2005. For some unknown reason I couldn't find the Vista version after I had upgraded. I have been living with my Vista MC ever since thinking to myself "Why? Why? WHY? did you do it without Bookmarkit!"
You have made me a much happier man! Thanks

This is great. Why would MS leave out such a feature from video when they have included it for recorded TV.
Thank you so much

I'd love to get this working! I'm not getting a "more" option when I right click. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Great app! Thanks for updating it for Vista - loved it in MCE, love it in Vista.

Thanks again!

Is there a way to use the bookmarks on multiple machines?

bookmarkit.txt is stored in C:\Windows\ehome and I would like all my mce machines to access the same txt file on a unc path.

Great app and works better then the rest of all bookmarks apps I've tested.

Brilliant - thanks for this. I have used it for a long time now.

For those who are complaining that it no longer works with the TV pack installed, it does but you can't have the video running in full screen as you can in plain Vista. Press the back button and then i - voila Bookmarkit works again!

Hi, This works great on the Vista Media Center, but the info button on the Linksys 2100 remote does not do anything. How can I get it to work with the Extender ?

Does this work on x64 Vista Media Center?

I have installed this on Vista Home Premium with TV Pack 2008.
When I tried to save a Bookmark, I get error:
System.NullReferenceException:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at
SaveBookMark.SaveBookMarkIt.Microsoft.MediaCenter.AddIn.IAddInEntryPoint.Launch

Can you help please?

With reference to the error I encountered above, I have solved it. It is an operational issue. I was stopping the video and pressing 'i'. You need to press the 'back' button so the video is still playing in the small window, and then press 'i'. Also, when trying to get back to a bookmark, you must have the video playing in a small window before you can return to a save bookmark.

Hi there, I'm still trying to use Bookmarkit! on my xbox360 mce 2005 extender. There's no way to make the mcx user access the file bookmark.txt in ehome so my question is: is there a way to change the file location in the program code in some way?? Thank you very much for your help and my compliments for the very good work. carlozzoc@excite.it

Does anyone know if this will work on Windows 7?

I just tried it on Windows 7 and couldn't get it to work. I don't have a Bookmarkit.txt file in the windows folder.
