MCE Skipper
Media center does not have seekbar functionality built into it. So, this plugin shows a seek bar very similiar to that of windows media player 10 that can be used from your couch with your remote control. It has a sleek interface in my opinion. Check these screenshots:
I have tested this plugin on MCE 2005 and Vista
Usage:
Once your video is playing, click the i (more info) button on your remote or right click with your mouse, then choose More...
Limitations:
1. MCE 2005 does not allow me to get the duration of the currently playing video. So the Seekbar will default to a 1 hour lenght. If your current video position is longer that 1 hour the seekbar will grow to accomodate. But if your video is less than 1 hour, the seekbar will not shrink. So be careful when seeking videos less than 60 minutes, it might jump to the end of the video.
2. The play, skip forward, skip back buttons on the bottom don't do anything... they are just there for the good looks :)

Works great on Vista, this plugin is a must have. Thanks for the quick updates, you rock.
I really appreciate your efforts. This works - sort of!
In Vista, I still seem to have to go back to the regular view on most videos to skip past the hour marks.
Any ideas why? If I play the movies in WMP the seekbar works perfectly.
Damien
Once the video passes 1 hour the seekbar will add 1/2 hour to it. Just seek to the 1 hour mark and wait a lil bit, then you will see the seekbar expand.
Hope this helps
Awesome.
Microsoft should have hired you to help design Vista's media centre...your apps add much needed functionality. Thanks for the work!
Thanks for the hard work!
This doesn't seem to work with widescreen for me. Is this something you're aware of?
Also, I don't know if it's possible, but it would be great if this was integrated more tightly into media centre. For example, pressing an unused remote button brings up the seek bar without having to press 'i' and so on.
Awesome work!
Hey man, thanks for writing that software. No need to kill anymore Kittens.
hey man, i love your stuff and im using the 'MCE FILE BROWSER' that you created thats pure gold, since everything is downloaded to another computer on my network.
one question, how can we edit the files that the browser filters? i'd like the ability to play x.264 files!
cheers

Silly question but wby not expand the the whole bar to say 3 hours with red .25 hours dots on the bar ....
Thanks! This is helpful for long .mpg files, though it doesn't seem to work for me on .dvr-ms files.
hey...great work dude...
this does not work with my widescreen either. Do any one has an idea how to use it.
Cheers for the work!!!
This is a nice post shared. Thanks for sharing this post and really great job done.
I can't believe how much of this I just wasn't aware of. Thank you for bringing more information to this topic for me. I'm truly grateful and really impressed.
MCE skipper is awesome man......
I work on it.
