Here's my solution in VB.net<br />
<br />
<pre style="font-family:arial;font-size:12px;border:1px dashed #CCCCCC;width:99%;height:auto;overflow:auto;background:#f0f0f0;;background-image:URL(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQyCex0Xx37-88PP1_G0sJIJTeFnpgjAJI-YuiWDPkEzwsXINYiEy6zgQuxiHZVcBemlm0VOElXPvK01-f6nrgw67XRv6UFPpeFg-voA7P6h8y6Xm-CJoVF_jkQv-SInpDrVIlWgCItdoh/s320/codebg.gif);padding:0px;color:#000000;text-align:left;line-height:20px;"><code style="color:#000000;word-wrap:normal;"> Dim xmlSource As New StringBuilder

Dim millisecs As Integer = runLength.Milliseconds

<p>This works really well for bulk inserts.</p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-25722637242152635272011-05-01T17:34:00.001-04:002011-05-01T17:36:37.597-04:00Airplay through Media CenterSo I felt like doing some media center programming this morning. I thought about how cool it would be to get AirPlay working with media center. Unfortunately, my solution is not native to MCE but it seems to work ok. I read this <a href="http://www.tuaw.com/2010/12/22/airmedia-player-for-windows-stream-from-ios-to-your-windows-pc/">TUAW article</a> about AirMediaPlayer, which opened to the door. AirMediaPlayer was discontinued by the author without releasing the source code, which SUCKS. So I wrote an AutoIt script to bridge the gaps between MCE and AirMediaPlayer. Here's a video of it in action:<br />
<br />
<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/U0f7cY6tLJo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
How it works:<br />
<br />
The first time you run the Airplay app from media center, it launches AirMediaPlayer and also launches a daemon to wait for the airplay connection, then returns you to media center. Now all you have to do is start playing a video on your iDevice, and click the airplay icon to select the computer name of your MCE machine. Once AirMediaPlayer receives the connection, MCE's "Now Playing" title is stopped, then MCE is minimized, and AirMediaPlayer is maximized to full screen mode. When you stop the video from the iDevice, AirMediaPlayer is minimized and you are returned to MCE. It's pretty seamless, although not native.<br />
<br />
Setup: <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/iczell3282">AirPlay.zip</a><br />
<br />
1. So first download the zip file an extract the contents to "C:\Airplay\"<br />
<br />
2. Run AirMediaPlayer. If you get an error, it's probably because you need to install <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999">Bonjour</a> and <a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/">Quicktime</a>. If you can't get AirMediaPlayer to get airplay videos from your iphone, there is no point in going to Step 3 until you get that working. Once you can airplay videos, move on to step 3.<br />
<br />
3. Run the install.cmd This will put the airplay app into media center. I only tested on windows 7 x64, so others will have to find a workaround. you can find the icon in the "Extras menu" or get Advent Media center studio to put it wherever you want it.<br />
<br />
4. Launch the addin from media center, and you should see the screen flicker as AirMediaPlayer starts and MCE restores back.<br />
<br />
5. Now launch a vid from your iphone, hit the airplay icon and send to MCE. MCE should notice and start the stream.<br />
<br />
Other stuff:<br />
<br />
There's a config.ini that you can edit that will enable logging or set the timeout of the daemon. The default timeout is 900 seconds (5 minutes). So if you dont send an airplay stream to MCE within that time period, AirMediaPlayer will close and you will have to click the MCE airplay icon again to start it.<br />
<br />
Launcher.exe does all the real work. The source code is at launcher.au3 ( an autoit script ) feel free to recompile it if needed. If someone get this going on 32bit let me know and I'll add your changes.<br />
<br />
So, that was my sunday... I would love to see Airplay audio, and a native Airplay video solution in the future. I just won't be the dev to do it, I dont have that kind of time anymore.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-61717664578422532010-05-01T21:03:00.001-04:002010-05-01T21:10:20.808-04:00GeoVision iphone webbrowser alternativeI got a geo vision card to replace the standalone dvr for my security cameras. GV makes a decent application, but best of all, it's easy to hack your own stuff. I was not really happy with the GV-IView iphone app. It takes like a half hour to load and view a camera feed. And it's the same situation on the firefox jpeg viewer. So here's my workaround.<br />
<br />
<br />
Go to your gv directory and find the web temp directory, mine was C:\GV-600\WebTemp\<br />
Then rename your ChangePwd.htm to ChangePwd.BAK (for backup) then download my version, replacing the original. Download <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/f443yqcj0l">here</a>.<br />
<br />
So now when you browse to your GV web version http://<my address="" ip="">:<my port="">/ChangePwd.htm you get a nice iphone and firefox compatible version. The only downside is that you can't change your password from the web anymore, you would have to be at the DVR to change password. I had to do it this way, because GV would not let me serve a new html file, so I had to edit an existing webpage.</my></my><br />
<br />
Once you log in, all of your settings are saved in a cookie, so that means a quick auto login. I'm not going to get into all the details of this mod, but it does lot's of stuff, and looks great on an iPad / iPhone too because you can pinch and spread to zoom in on your feeds. Also, if you add the webpage to the iphone homescreen, it makes a nice icon.<br />

A lot of things have improved in Win7 but it took me forever to get everything setup right. Especially since I was attempting to upgrade old MCE2005 hardware to Win7. My box was a 2005 HP Pavilion Slimline, 1 gb ram (max), on board video card, no more expansion slots. So hardware upgrading wasn't possible. After reinstalling Win7 four times and trying specialized codec packs, which all sucked, my biggest problem was my networked xvid videos were choppy. I tried hundreds of fixes, from codecs to drivers.<br />
<br />
The codecs that worked best for me, was CoreAVC and the XviD codec. This got the choppyness to a minimal amount, and enabled mkv formats but it still wasn't perfect. It turns out I was sharing content via an administrative share //server/d$/content for example. This was the source of my problem all along so I am documenting it for any other losers out there. <b>Windows 7 does not stream video smoothly via an admin share! </b>Just share the folder normally and it's all gravy FFS.<br />
<br />
Here's some other tweaks I made. First off install mediabrowser http://www.mediabrowser.tv/ because it's awesome, a bit slow but worth it. Also you want to modify the home strip to say something more blatent than mediabrowser, so tweak it via the registry like so:<br />
<br />
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu\Applications\{ce32c570-4bec-4aeb-ad1d-cf47b91de0b2}]<br />
"OnStartMenu"="True"<br />
"Title"="Movies or whatever"<br />
<br />
And you can remove the other items from the Start menu like Extra's by running this app: http://mikinho.com/wmc/start-menu-plus/<br />
<br />
Also, I tweaked Win7 for HTPC use only by right click, my computer, properties, Performance Information and tools (lower left) Adjust visual effects (best performance), indexing options (modify then remove all).<br />
<br />
Lastly since my MCE is an old piece of shit box, I stuck in an old 2gb flash drive then set it up for ready boost, which is kinda like a ghetto ram expansion. But believe it or not, it did run faster with it. <br />
<br />
After all that was done, I transformed an old POS MCE 2005 box to a usable Win7 MCE box.<br />
<br />
Here's some other shit I changed but I don't know if it helped or not... Only try if you're desperate:<br />
I installed the Preferred Filter Tweaker http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_preferred_filter_tweaker.htm<br />
which basically lets you tell windows 7 mce which codec to decode with. And totally unrelated I upgraded DirectX. Both things probably weren't neccessary but I'm throwing it out there anyway.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-79834023833086307362010-01-23T10:15:00.016-05:002010-01-23T17:08:38.355-05:00Grip Growl Notifications in Media CenterThere <span style="font-style: italic;">was</span> no Growl display addon for media center. So I decided to get my hands a lil dirty and create one. I found some a <a href="http://www.codeproject.com/KB/dotnet/mceexternaldialog.aspx?msg=1672504">source code</a> from MCE 2005 that seemed to do exactly what I wanted. The only problem is that the source code didn't work for MCE 2005 rollup 2, and the link to the fix was long gone. So after some scouring, I found/posted the fix, recompiled the application DLL's, and began testing. It works great on my MCE 2005 boxes, and I even got it working in Windows 7 MCE, didn't test in Vista because vista sucks.<br />
<br />
Why did I write this? Because I am an idiot who has a million other paid projects I should be writing but MCE keeps pulling me back in. And also, Notify Pro was released in Cydia which allows your iPhone to push growl notifications from your phone to a growl client, this works with that so new SMS/Incoming Calls alerts etc, work with media center. The alerts vanish after 7 seconds, no remote control needed.<br />
<br />

<br />
To install the media center addon, exit media center, then copy all files from the MCE-Install directory into C:\Windows\ehome\ then double click the install.bat file. To uninstall run, uninstall.bat file. After this is done, MCE is ready to receive notifications. To send Growl notifications to the media center install growl http://www.growlforwindows.com and then install the scripty display: http://www.growlforwindows.com/displays/scripty<br />
<br />
Now you need to configure scripty to launch our custom executable, so go to displays, set scripty as default, then hit browse and navigate to the MessageSender folder, and select the MessageSender.exe If scripty doesn't let you select the MessageSender.exe file then type *.* in the file name box and it should then allow it.<br />
<br />
Now start a non maximized media center, and click preview and you should see this:<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now I guess you can install all kinds of growl apps and get your notifications in MCE.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-6639860702631469942009-12-19T09:46:00.020-05:002009-12-19T12:00:12.134-05:00Security Cameras Media Center and iPhone NotificationsI brought some lorex security cameras from costco only to find out that there is no API for developers, so if you don't like the stock functionality you are out of luck. I wanted to be able to see the live camera feed from my MCE 2005 boxes and I wanted to see the live feed from my iPhone.<br /><br />Here's how I made it happen.<br /><br />Requirements:<br /><br /><a href="http://lorexstore.lorextechnology.com/product.aspx?id=1947">4 camera lorex camera</a> with video out, although I suppose any webcam will do.<br /><br />A server with a tuner card (<a href="http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_pvr150.html">hauppauge PVR 150</a> in my case but anyone should work) The tuner card has to be dedicated for this purpose, so no live TV recording in MCE. If you are doing a USB webcam the tuner is not necessary.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.yawcam.com/">YAWCam</a><br /><br />Setup:<br /><br />Plug the video out from the lorex monitor into the tuner card. I needed to purchase a BNC to Composite adapter from radio shack to make this happen.<br /><br />Download and install YawCam<br /><br />You should be able to have YawCam detect your tuner card as a webcam, once that's done, enable the streaming option. Now if you goto the stream's address on the web you should see a javascript feed of screen captures. This looks pretty close to live video, although it is simply static jpgs being feed at 30 frames per second.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA9xS2R1_OIHKTVbymTEsJz3z0yj9D5qyZ9VBK7mNvSx3wno69c_1AN7MXvYeYly0jivt-_dSOV128EX-sx2065Edx7kg8UUPGwlhyphenhyphenC94JWMcfbFtVWT_9PVvcwj2lE65POSgehYz3z400/s1600-h/Screen2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA9xS2R1_OIHKTVbymTEsJz3z0yj9D5qyZ9VBK7mNvSx3wno69c_1AN7MXvYeYly0jivt-_dSOV128EX-sx2065Edx7kg8UUPGwlhyphenhyphenC94JWMcfbFtVWT_9PVvcwj2lE65POSgehYz3z400/s320/Screen2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416987893746333778" border="0" /></a>Now here's the problem... the TV out from lorex displays all 4 cameras on one image which kinda sucks. I wanted to be able to zoom in on one camera at a time via the media center 10 foot experience. So I edited the streams html file to accept input from the Media Center remote. So if I click number 1 on the remote, it zooms and clips the image to the dimensions of the first camera. If I hit left, right, up or down it switches from camera 1 to 2 to 3 to 4.<br /><br />I also edited the HTML file to be more iPhone compatible. I added a homescreen icon and made some other mods.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNokCwoL89dFvLhZyVF3-BLFn9zSEHPc7OQc29zbbuoPNxe2mCQdvMMddo_1d3Kyo3xtnC8i80LNzA1qqwVERlR_btJSQyZVhiamsRPRMXHo09-yhovWIH6fLhkD7l7umxQh4MveS0LB_N/s1600-h/Screen3.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNokCwoL89dFvLhZyVF3-BLFn9zSEHPc7OQc29zbbuoPNxe2mCQdvMMddo_1d3Kyo3xtnC8i80LNzA1qqwVERlR_btJSQyZVhiamsRPRMXHo09-yhovWIH6fLhkD7l7umxQh4MveS0LB_N/s320/Screen3.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416987897938437986" border="0" /></a>Here's the edited HTML file: <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/i1rjd8p8fe">http://www.box.net/shared/i1rjd8p8fe</a> (replace this into C:\Program Files\Yawcam\stream\ )<br /><br />So far so good... now to add this webpage to MCE I double clicked on the MCL file on my MCE 2005 box. Now If you go to more programs in Media Center you get a My Cameras option. But of course I had to take it a step further. I wanted to add My Cameras to the MCE start menu, so I am imcluding a reg file to enable that as well.<br /><br />Remember to edit the reg file and the MCL file to match the IP address of your server. Open in notepad and do a find (192.168.1.101:8080) and replace (yourip:port). Double click reg to install to Start Menu, Double click mcl file to install to more programs.<br /><br />Download: <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/98pabdm58a">http://www.box.net/shared/98pabdm58a</a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj01606o4d-AsgrIaJCYXKhVyFqckIVXxUell-NIeDXWXZoIm52LO3VlUr-LOPrVi8IrL4sYqDxKPr-0pVZ-6OAcAV9WF7F1fC2RgFERqV6z_eNfrbnwICW5wMi0YFL-OIULhwiR0KDM33D/s1600-h/Screen1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj01606o4d-AsgrIaJCYXKhVyFqckIVXxUell-NIeDXWXZoIm52LO3VlUr-LOPrVi8IrL4sYqDxKPr-0pVZ-6OAcAV9WF7F1fC2RgFERqV6z_eNfrbnwICW5wMi0YFL-OIULhwiR0KDM33D/s320/Screen1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416987887551118690" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Now the icing on the cake. I thought wouldn't it be cool if I received notifications on my iPhone when a motion event occurred? I know it's a little overboard but that's how I roll. Yawcam offers a motion detection option. When motion is detected it can send an email (boring) or run an executable (w00t!). So I setup the motion detector to capture screenshots of the events and then run an VB Script.<br /><br />The VB script first performs a system beep, since my server is headless and speakerless, I hear this beep before people can even ring the doorbell. Next the script pings my iPhone's IP address to see if I'm home and on the wifi. If the iphone reply's to ping it does nothing. If it doesn't reply to ping it sends a notification to my iphone that motion was captured. The notification is sent using the excellent Prowl app and API (on appstore). If my iPhone reply's to ping but it is between the hours of 11pm and 7am (when I'm in bed) it sends the notification. So if I'm watching a creepy show like dexter and it's late night, I get a motion detected notification on my phone, I click "My Cameras" in MCE and I have a live feed of my cameras. Best of all dexter continues to play uninterrupted while I view the feed. Pretty bad ass.<br /><br />Download: <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/27hgh24an8">http://www.box.net/shared/27hgh24an8</a><br /><br />Remember to edit the variables in the vbs file to match your iphone IP address and prowl's API Key<br /><br />More Screens:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCqRoEFsnN0nVt9fb3cl_P0Bj6e8DbG-eFD3CX8S1otepOm9Yw15nlgk2BpGl1cZdOgrk30bH0IZlUy5PC1bT5dFyDD2Cje6n4HI8zNbpnd-8nYK5xRy2UOImZOw_ZioQ_K7FDGyzEQcPS/s1600-h/Screen.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCqRoEFsnN0nVt9fb3cl_P0Bj6e8DbG-eFD3CX8S1otepOm9Yw15nlgk2BpGl1cZdOgrk30bH0IZlUy5PC1bT5dFyDD2Cje6n4HI8zNbpnd-8nYK5xRy2UOImZOw_ZioQ_K7FDGyzEQcPS/s320/Screen.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416989428909403682" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_4RE1d0MY2WBJCVdKtnlfl2d5UYi-askem_hTAFOHg5X0_0X9L_GcgsTLHBeI5W66Txjz4N2P0L-OuzzJRtT-5SGXdIG-YgSlOAuaD89jE9j0xtn9gMbv1U410AWyNVv-OOVeCvDBhgiF/s1600-h/IMG_1077.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_4RE1d0MY2WBJCVdKtnlfl2d5UYi-askem_hTAFOHg5X0_0X9L_GcgsTLHBeI5W66Txjz4N2P0L-OuzzJRtT-5SGXdIG-YgSlOAuaD89jE9j0xtn9gMbv1U410AWyNVv-OOVeCvDBhgiF/s320/IMG_1077.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416990493915962914" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Known issues: yawCam doesn't work with a 64bit OS... sucks. But it's a drag to load up from Media center 2005 unless you have VNC or a mouse. Here's my workaround... This will add a Boxee icon to the More Programs menu in media center.<br /><br />Download this zip file: <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/hxl5mdif42">http://www.box.net/shared/hxl5mdif42</a><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span><br /><br />Then extract the 2 files (Boxee.mcl & Boxee.Bat) to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs<br /><br />Now simply double click on the MCL file to install.<br /><br />For those of you running Vista MCE try this: <a href="http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/01/adding-boxee-to-media-center-x86-and.html">http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/01/adding-boxee-to-media-center-x86-and.html</a><br /><br />Fixed download link 12/19/2009Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-83569383798272139102009-01-10T20:24:00.009-05:002009-08-14T21:48:46.415-04:00Sirius on the iPhoneGetting Sirius on my iPhone was a difficult task for me. I was using <a href="http://www.orb.com">Orb</a> with <a href="http://www.millardsoftware.com">uSirius</a> for a while but I found that orb is too heavy for my home server. Also Orb takes too long to start from the iPhone... I have to click through 5 prompts before I can hear Stern. Then if I got disconnected, which happens all too often, I had 5 more prompts to click through. <br /><br />So here's my solution using all free software without transcoding and without jailbreaking my iPhone.<br /><br /><span style="font-style:italic;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">This is for the technologically advanced user. If you don't have a web server or never heard of asp then stop here.</span></span><br /><br />Requirements:<br /><br />A home web server running asp<br /><a href="http://www.millardsoftware.com/content/usirius-10-release-candidate-8">uSirius RC 8</a><br /><br />uSirius Mirror: http://www.mediafire.com/?kn0cotmyt52<br /><br /><a href="http://www.sirius.com/sirius/servlet/MediaPlayer?stream=&">A sirius subscription </a><br /><a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=289892007&mt=8">fStream</a> (free on appStore)<br /><br />A little background info:<br />When a media player hits a uSirius url (e.g. http://192.168.1.101:19080/streams/stream?bandwidth=low&num=100&r=1229898108), uSirius redirects the player to the correct feed from the sirius servers (e.g. http://g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/?auth=reallylongurl&MSWMExt=.asf) <br /><br />How this redirection occurs is the source of the problem. Most media players don't like to be redirected. Especially all iPhone media players I tried. So my asp script simplifies the redirect by transforming it into a m3u playlist. Here's how to do it<br /><br />Open up notepad and paste this code:<br /><code><pre style='overflow: auto;width: auto;background-color: #f0f6fa;border: 1px solid #CCCCCC;border-width: 1px 0;'><br /><%<br />response.ContentType="audio/x-mpegurl"<br />Set stream = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.3.0")<br />stream.open "GET", "http://192.168.1.101:19080/streams/stream?bandwidth=low&num=" & request.querystring("C") & "&r=1234567890", false<br />stream.send ""<br />If stream.Status = 200 AND stream.readyState = 4 Then<br /> s = stream.ResponseText<br /> s = Mid(s, instr(s, "=")+1)<br /> s = Mid(s, 1, instr(s, "Ref")-3)<br /> s = "mms" & Mid(s, 5)<br />end If<br />response.write(s)<br />%><br /></pre></code><br />Save it as sirius.asp and put it in the your web root directory.<br /><br />You would have to get the ASX playlist location from uSirius and plug it into my script, substituting your internal ip address and the "r=1234567890" part. <br /><a href="http://img217.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=40945_uSirius_122_513lo.jpg" target=_blank><img src="http://img217.imagevenue.com/loc513/th_40945_uSirius_122_513lo.jpg" border="0"></a><br /><br />Lastly, in fStream you could add a stream to Howard 100 by calling this script like this: http://myexternalipaddress/sirius.asp?C=100 because Stern is Sirius channel 100. <br /><br /><a href="http://img141.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=40944_IMG_0001_122_919lo.jpg" target=_blank><img src="http://img141.imagevenue.com/loc919/th_40944_IMG_0001_122_919lo.jpg" border="0"></a><br /><br />I have found this setup to be highly effective for me and it puts little strain on my server. I know this isn't the most complete tutorial in the world but I just figured I'd share my findings with you.<br /><br />If you have a better solution please share in the comments.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-47667441578363550632008-06-11T08:34:00.002-04:002008-06-11T08:39:01.458-04:00Movie BrowserI am sorry I've have not made any updates to this code. I don't understand why Microsoft added this feature to extenders and not to full media centers. So to make a long story short, I started fiddling with VLC media player. Using VLC I was able to stream live tv from my bedroom's media center to my living room's media center machine. The best part is, I can stream the video and still use media center in my bedroom. VLC used about 32Mb or memory to perform the stream but the picture quality is outstanding IMO. I know about ORB and other software that does similar things, but I wanted High quality video, accessible through media center's interface without having to go through an outside server.<br /><br />VLC was a bit of a pain to setup and I had some audio driver issues. But now that it's done and working I couldn't be happier. I'll post a full tutorial on how I accomplished this soon.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-36057236620989805382007-07-05T13:24:00.001-04:002007-07-05T13:57:55.870-04:00MCE SkipperMedia center does not have seekbar functionality built into it. So, this plugin shows a seek bar very similiar to that of windows media player 10 that can be used from your couch with your remote control. It has a sleek interface in my opinion. Check these screenshots:<br><br /><a href="http://img145.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=56559_ss1_122_885lo.JPG" target=_blank><img src="http://img145.imagevenue.com/loc885/th_56559_ss1_122_885lo.JPG" border="0"></a><br><a href="http://img173.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=56573_ss2_122_393lo.JPG" target=_blank><img src="http://img173.imagevenue.com/loc393/th_56573_ss2_122_393lo.JPG" border="0"></a><br /><br /><br />I have tested this plugin on MCE 2005 and Vista<br /><br />Usage:<br />Once your video is playing, click the i (more info) button on your remote or right click with your mouse, then choose More...<br /><br />Limitations:<br />1. MCE 2005 does not allow me to get the duration of the currently playing video. So the Seekbar will default to a 1 hour lenght. If your current video position is longer that 1 hour the seekbar will grow to accomodate. But if your video is less than 1 hour, the seekbar will not shrink. So be careful when seeking videos less than 60 minutes, it might jump to the end of the video.<br /><br />2. The play, skip forward, skip back buttons on the bottom don't do anything... they are just there for the good looks :)<br /><br /><a href="http://treason.cellconfig.com/MCESkipper.exe" target="_blank" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/BookMarkItVista');">Download</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-7464646982282182582007-06-29T19:21:00.000-04:002007-06-29T19:26:20.290-04:00BookMarkIt! MyDvd's is a feature that comes with rollup2. Read more here: http://blog.mattgoyer.com/categories/mediaCenter/2005/10/20.html<br /><br />I wrote a My Movies type plugin but never released it because hosted HTML apps blow on a media center. They never quite look right. My DVD's on the other hand looks great. The downside to My DVD's is that it is only for DVDs. So I am thinking about writing a plugin to trick media center into playing avi's through My DVD's. Chances are nobody reads this blog, but in case someone is, what do you think of the idea. Is this a worthwild venture, or just alot of code for no reason?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-21978626973035459802007-04-25T22:05:00.000-04:002007-04-25T22:10:18.574-04:00Fast Forward and Rewind in DiVX/XViDYea man, Damien Bain-Thouverez wrote a plugin to send IR signals from your remote directly to FDDShow to enable fast forward and rewind on DiVX and XViD's in MCE. I even wrote plugins to simulate this behavior, but nothing as nice as this. <br /><br />So here's the bad news: It's only for Vista MCE. I still have 2005 and I am jealous. I sent Damien an email, to which I hope he responds. I am hoping we can collaborate and get this functionality in 2005. <br /><br />Let's wait and see...<br /><br />For you Vista people, here is his website: http://damienbt.free.fr/index.phpUnknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-49791617678140439292007-04-09T10:47:00.000-04:002007-04-09T11:01:18.957-04:00Free Remote Mouse 2.1As per some requests I updated Free Remote Mouse.<br />It has the same download link as before.<br /><br />Basically I made it so that it will display a message box when the remote mouse is enabled/disabled. Also, I spelled argument correctly this time :) <br /><br />Old Problems Explained:<br />In the old version you might find that you have to hold the button down for an eternity before the remote mouse becomes enabled. I'm going to try to explain this. If you use your keyboard and simply press "0" three times the remote mouse will enable/disable. The problem is the IR receiver when using the remote control. Sometimes it doesn't send consecutive signals to the box the way a keyboard would. This varies per machine making it even harder to code accuratly. When you find yourself holding the "0" button forever what you are actually doing it enabling then disabling then enabled and disabling etc... when you release the button, it's potluck, whether its actually disabled or enabled. In the new version a message box will be displayed, hence no potluck. I recommend finding the best method for your pc. Whether it's tapping 0 a couple times or holding it down for 3 seconds. I don't recommend holding the 0 button down forever because then you might find yourself in a parade of message boxes. <br /><br />Anyways, nothing free is perfect but it's getting better.<br /><br />Download the new version here: <a href="http://treason.cellconfig.com/FreeRemoteMouse.exe" target="_blank" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/FreeMouse');">Download</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-26168559276727620702007-04-09T09:46:00.000-04:002007-04-09T09:49:56.618-04:00Real WorldI'd like to apologize to those of you who have asked for updates on my software. If anyone has a website and would consider giving me access to an ftp folder to store this stuff, drop me an email.<br /><br />I don't want to use rapidshare or anything like that, unless someone knows of something else free without the ads and timers.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-79922921440243029582006-12-27T22:59:00.000-05:002007-03-09T21:19:32.016-05:00FreeRemoteMouse 2.0With way too much time on my hands over the holiday break, I compiled Free RemoteMouse 2.0 <br /><br />I basically added an installer, and made it so the user can set exactly what buttons do what. Futhermore, you can set a button to launch any program on your computer. For Example button #3 can be mapped to launch internet explorer or a video game or a family photo from your couch. Yes, it's the epidemy of laziness I know. But hey I was bored so whatever.<br /><br /><a href="http://img150.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=78835_ss1_122_370lo.JPG" target=_blank><img src="http://img150.imagevenue.com/loc370/th_78835_ss1_122_370lo.JPG" border="0"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://treason.cellconfig.com/FreeRemoteMouse.exe" target="_blank" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/FreeMouse');">Download</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com23tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-61131124455592026402006-12-24T01:08:00.000-05:002007-03-09T21:20:25.586-05:00GetLyrics 1.1griffithc, over at the Australian Media Center community pointed out a bug in GetLyrics. Apparently, the site that the lyrics are scraped from changed some stuff around, so lyrics weren't displaying properly. <br /><br />Well, the version 1.1 fixes that bug<br /><br /><a href="http://treason.cellconfig.com/GetLyrics.msi" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/GetLyrics');">Download</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-46415806098032213862006-12-20T02:00:00.000-05:002007-03-09T21:20:46.126-05:00FreeRemoteMouse 1.1I downloaded MyRemoteMouse yesterday and I was upset that the dude wanted 30 bucks for a plugin and it's heavy and doesn't work very well. So I spent the past 2 hours creating "FreeRemoteMouse". It's written with <a href="http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/">AutoIt</a>, totally free and opensource for you. You can decompile my exe with AutoIt and modify it. Just share your modifications here and give me credit for original design. I am not an AutoIt expert, so my code might be sloppy but it works!<br /><br />How to use:<br />Unrar the download, and run the exe. There's no installation or anything just an exe. You will notice it in your system tray. To start using your remote as a mouse hold 0 for five seconds. Then use the navigational arrows on your remote to move your mouse around. Hold 0 for five seconds again to disable the remotemouse. You could put the exe in your startup folder I guess for easy access.<br /><br />New addidtions to version 1.1<br /><br />1 = dblClick<br />2 = RightClick<br />3 = MouseDrag<br />4 = MouseDrop<br /><br /><a href="http://treason.cellconfig.com/FreeRemoteMouse.exe" target="_blank" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/FreeMouse');">Download</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-24106534633518677812006-12-19T22:46:00.000-05:002006-12-19T23:48:16.881-05:00Cool sitesThe best Media Center forum on the net has to be the <a href="http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/" target="_blank">The Australian Media Center Community </a><br />It's the most supportive forum I have ever been on. It must be because they are not american. Unlike those ungrateful turds at thegreenbutton.<br /><br />The best plugin site IMO is <a href="http://www.moremce.com/" target="_blank">MoreMCE</a>. The apps I post there get tons of hits. One app I submitted got over 1500 clicks, but not one thank you, so maybe it's not that great.<br /><br />Also, I googled my own software and found some reviews. Kinda funny how things spread once they hit the internet.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.pvrwire.com/2006/12/02/mce-plugin-spotlight-bookmarkit/" target="_blank">PVR Wire</a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.missingremote.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;id=606&Itemid=2" target="_blank">Missing Remote</a><br /><br />I feel so special :PUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497775878552656473.post-44369067277715737232006-12-19T22:43:00.000-05:002006-12-19T22:53:46.869-05:00MusicPlayerSo Thomas Larsen took my File Browser code and did some neat things to it. He turned it into a advanced music player.<br /><br />Features<br /><br />Browsing in Windows file system<br />Fast indexing with the numerich keypad on the MCE remotecontrol<br />View album cover (Place a jpg file named "front.jpg" in the folder)<br />You can add all music files in folder to the play list<br />Multilanguage support (Add new text/code to the language.js file)<br /><br /><a href="http://www.th-haandbold.dk/musicplayer/" target=_blank>Download</a><br /><br />Someone once sent me another modified version of file browser that allowed for automatic mounting of Disc Images with a Daemon tools command line interface. Pretty cool as well, I don't think he released it pubically.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3
